Fingals Luxury Country House B&B

Eccentric, quirky, unique, different, a home-from-home - Fingals is all of these and much, much more! Carved out of a handsome listed 17th Century Devon Manor House (mentioned in the Doomsday Book) Fingals has been family owned and run by Richard Johnston for the past 30 years. Richard has lovingly transformed his home into a luxury country house offering bed and breakfast.  Surrounded by peace and quiet Fingals is to be found in a tranquil valley just a mile from the river Dart.

Fingals is no longer a hotel but now offers bed and breakfast in stylish en-suite bedrooms. Rain or shine come to Fingals and enjoy the free use of an indoor, heated swimming pool, a sauna, a gym, a games room with snooker, table football and a piano plus ping pong on the terrace outside. During the summer months play a game on our immaculate grass tennis court. Indoors you will find a wood panelled bar where conviviality rules, roaring log fires in winter, books, newspapers, board games and magazines all around. Just to add to that feeling of peace and tranquility we have a flock of white doves living in the ancient stone dovecot.

However, should you wish your own space, the Fingals Apart website has 5 apartments available for self catering or a House Party for up to 28 people.

Our basic philosophy has always remained the same from day one... Fingals should be unique, sociable, enjoyable, personal and easy-going so that guests feel entirely 'at home'.

We hope anyone willing to allow themselves to enter into our world will come away with enthusiastic memories. House parties, wedding receptions, romantic weekends away, family holidays, everyone is welcome. Fingals is simply a very special place to stay - it is a true indulgence. Try it and please take a step inside >>.

Guest Comments

Your shoulders loosen about two miles from Fingals and you instinctively slow down as you drive through the narrow Devon lanes. You arrive at Fingals and as you carry your baggage across the croquet lawn to the front door, all the baggage you carry with you on the outside world evaporates... and you haven't even stepped inside
